About Me
Tia Hooper is the founder of Legal Flex GC and a strategic legal advisor with more than 15 years of experience guiding executives, founders, and senior leaders through complex legal and operational challenges across the private sector, government, and military. She built Legal Flex GC on a simple idea: growing businesses should not have to choose between paying big-firm rates or hiring a full-time General Counsel before they are ready. There is a smarter, more flexible way — and that is what Legal Flex GC provides.
Before founding Legal Flex GC, Tia served as Corporate Counsel for Young’s Holdings, a multi-subsidiary, family-owned enterprise operating across consumer goods and real estate. As the primary legal advisor to executive leadership, she managed the company’s full employment and commercial litigation portfolio from pre-litigation through arbitration and trial, directing outside counsel in a way that avoided more than $3 million in potential exposure and generated more than $500,000 in annual cost savings. She also oversaw hundreds of contracts annually representing more than $50 million in total value, reduced outside counsel reliance by 40 percent, and led a corporate reorganization of multiple subsidiaries without disruption to business operations.
Before transitioning to the private sector, Tia served more than a decade in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps, holding senior legal leadership positions across domestic and international assignments. Her roles included Deputy Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, where she advised senior Department of Defense leadership on national security, domestic operations, and civil disturbance response. She later served as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate at Luke Air Force Base, leading a team of 18 attorneys supporting a $2 billion regional mission footprint. Over her JAG career, Tia tried more than 30 trials and administrative hearings, oversaw more than 100 litigation matters, and deployed to Afghanistan as Chief of Fiscal Law, where she managed more than 500 acquisition actions totaling $650 million and accelerated fraud case resolution by 75 percent.
Tia has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Military Law at Arizona State University’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and clerked for the Honorable Terry J. Hatter in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
As an entrepreneur with her own children’s book brand company, Tia understands firsthand what it means to build something from the ground up. She brings that perspective to every client engagement — not only as a lawyer, but as a trusted advisor who appreciates the decisions, pressures, and opportunities that shape growing businesses.
